Swan: Strength through removal

Context

Swan began with an interest in softness at the point of contact. Designed for use beneath counters, desks, or along a wall, the project explored how a wall-mounted hook could feel gentle and approachable while still supporting significant load.

The initial impulse was a simple arched form - one that felt easy on the body and visually calm in close proximity.

Process

Development started with a solid volume. Rather than building outward, material was removed to reveal a cavity beneath the arch, transforming a dome-like form into a functional hook.

Insight

Strength does not always come from addition. By removing material deliberately, form can become both lighter and more capable.
