Y: Presence through absence
Production
Production
Context
Y began as a reconsideration of the familiar square table leg. Rather than adding form or ornament, the project asked what could be removed - how much material could be taken away while still preserving strength, stability, and visual clarity.
The interest was not in novelty, but in restraint.
Process
The leg was developed as a hollow-bodied square profile, where material is selectively removed to create an internal void. What remains are planar surfaces that carry load efficiently while defining the leg’s external presence.
Resolution
Y is a minimalist table leg defined by what is not there - restrained, quietly asserting structure through subtraction.
